CAD/Records Management Software
SPDs CAD program is a fully integrated system which allows multiple users on-line
simultaneously. Some of the most important and beneficial features include the automatic
generation of case numbers, time stamps, and unit recommendations for dispatching Police,
Fire, and EMS calls-for-service. All of this information is then stored into a database
and available for later retrieval by multiple, searchable fields.
The Records Management system allows records clerks to input valuable information and
data from all police reports. Later, this data can also be retrieved and used as an
investigative tool in criminal cases. Furthermore, this system captures statistical crime
and arrest data that is reported on a monthly basis to the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation (OSBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Another important aspect of this system is that it provides an archived record of all
inmates housed in our detention facilities. This information, placed into the system by
SPDs Detention Officers, keeps a complete record of all inmates from time of arrest,
booking, inspections, medications dispensed, and any other activity, to the time of their
release
in short, a current, accurate file on every person incarcerated by this
department.
This very valuable database also provides important information which can be used by
other police agencies, court systems, probation departments, and various other
governmental agencies which require criminal records and data to further their
investigations. Of course, this system also allows for the efficient retrieval of records
in order to assist citizens with requested information.
Mobile Computer Terminals (MCTs)
SPD has also made a number of MCTs
available for use in each vehicle in its fleet. Some of the benefits derived from this
setup include remote access to important record information, to be used in patrol and
investigation activities, and increased efficiency in the generation of reports, while
keeping officers out on the street during patrol assignments.
Currently, each MCT that SPD uses consists of a Panasonic© CF-25 portable, laptop
computer, which comes equipped with built-in, 100 MHz or better Pentium© processors, 1
GB hard
drives, and 11 inch dual-scan displays. Futhermore, these computers are encased in very
durable material that is heat, water, and impact resistant.
Communication
This combination of hardware and software has not only increased communication between
and among department employees, but also how the communication takes place. Specifically,
this system allows for communicating sensitive information between and among field units
by Central Communications, and vice versa. Furthermore, it allows remote communication
among Patrol Officers, and remote access from patrol cars to the SPD, state, and some
federal records systems.
