Detention Unit

Housed within the Stillwater Police Department is the City of Stillwater Municipal Jail.  The jail is composed of 23 cells including; 3 holding cells, 14 men’s cells, and 6 female cells.  The Municipal Jail is manned 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, throughout the year by Detention Officers.  The primary responsibilities of the Detention Officers are:

Handling the city’s prisoners efficiently and effectively is the priority of the Detention Unit.  The Detention Unit typically processes approximately 150-200 prisoners per month including prisoner intake (booking), monitoring, and release or transfer.  The Detention Unit must follow all mandated guidelines and maintain the jail and all related equipment.
